For years fans hoped that WWE would eventually dust off some of WCW’s old ideas and make them their own, and their wish has recently come true. It was announced a few weeks ago that the War Games match will be returning at the next NXT TakeOver event, and Starrcade will be returning as well.

Starrcade was once a huge pay-per-view for WCW, but WWE’s version of Starrcade won’t be a pay-per-view. Instead it will just be a normal live event. With WWE using the name for the event, some hoped that it would air on the WWE Network, but it doesn’t look like that will be happening.
It was recently reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE officials view the idea of airing the show on the Network as an expense that is unnecessary. The belief is that airing the event won’t increase the subscriber count, and that there would be no financial benefit.
