WWE Extreme Rules is set to air live on the WWE Network on Sunday night and the show is loaded with gimmick matches. The Hardy Boyz will be defending the Raw Tag Team Titles against Sheamus and Cesaro inside a steel cage, and it looks like we could be seeing a title change take place on Sunday.
Sportskeeda is reporting that Sheamus and Cesaro are set to win the Raw Tag Team Titles at the event. WWE officials are reportedly interested in pushing Matt and Jeff Hardy as singles acts in the near future and Vince McMahon sees Jeff Hardy as a top star. Prior to Jeff’s departure in 2009 his merchandise sales were second only to John Cena, and he was being pushed as the top face on SmackDown.
It’s easy to see how Jeff Hardy would fit into the WWE main event scene as the roster is full of fresh faces for him to feud with such as Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and more.
It will be interesting to see what WWE does with Matt Hardy when the brothers eventually go their separate ways, as the status of the Broken Matt Hardy character is still up in the air due to the ongoing legal battle with Impact Wrestling.
