It’s unfortunate but there are a number of professional wrestlers who have been taken out of action due to injury over the last few months, and now it looks like you can add another name to the list.
Inside The Ropes reports that at the most recent set of NXT UK tapings NXT UK Champion Ilja Dragunov was forced to relinquish their title. The exact nature of the injury is not known at this point in time, but it was noted that Dragunov appeared in a protective boot at the tapings.
During the tapings an eight man tournament to crown a new champion was announced. The tournament kicked off during the tapings with Tyler Bate, Joe Coffey, Trent Seven and Oliver Carter all competing in the tournament.
Ilja Dragunov first won the NXT UK Championship at NXT TakeOver 36 when he defeated WALTER. His reign lasted for 318 days before he was forced to relinquish the belt. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
