Last weekend Swerve Strickland defended his AEW World Championship against Bryan Danielson in the main event at All In. Ahead of the match Bryan announced that if he lost he would never wrestle again. The stakes were high heading into the main event, but when it was all said and done Bryan Danielson defeated Swerve Strickland to win the AEW World Championship for the first time in his career.
This week Bryan Danielson addressed his future on AEW Dynamite and he announced that he will be leaving full-time wrestling soon, but not quite yet. Bryan went on to state that his full-time career will come to an end when he loses his AEW World Championship.
Currently Bryan Danielson is set to defend his title against Jack Perry at the All Out pay-per-view. Darby Allin will face the winner of that match at AEW Grand Slam on September 25th.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that the idea of Darby Allin beating Bryan Danielson to win the title has been strongly considered whether it be at Grand Slam in New York, or at WrestleDream in Tacoma.
It’s not clear at this point in time if AEW will be moving forward with the idea of Allin winning the title, but it’s worth noting that Bryan indicated during an interview a few months ago that he would like to end his full-time career at the Tacoma Dome.
