This year’s SummerSlam premium live event is set to take place from Ford Field in Detroit, MI and it looks like WWE is already setting the stage for the show. This week on Monday Night Raw, Lita was attacked backstage, but her attacker wasn’t revealed.
Trish Stratus ended up taking Lita’s place in the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title match when she teamed up with Becky Lynch, but Stratus lost the match for her team when she was pinned by Liv Morgan, and after the match Trish turned on Becky when she attacked her from behind.
A Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus match has been rumored for some time now, and Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE is looking to do the match at SummerSlam. Meltzer added that it’s interesting WWE shot the angle with Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus so early, but the match has been planned for SummerSlam ever since Trish Stratus returned to TV.
