In recent months the feud between The Elite and the Blackpool Combat Club has been heating up and later this month the two teams will face off in a Blood & Guts match. Both The Elite and the Blackpool Combat Club have one spot open on their respective teams, and it looks like a major free agent could be siding with The Elite.
Fightful Select is reporting that they’ve confirmed conversations have taken place between Kota Ibushi and AEW. Most of the talent who spoke on the subject believe that he will be joining the company in some capacity for Blood & Guts.
It was also noted that Kota Ibushi’s management has reduced his media obligations noting that his schedule is set to pick up in the near future. A source close to Ibushi in Japan specifically noted that he’s set to work Blood & Guts. Ibushi has mostly been out of action since October of 2021, but did wrestle for GCW during WrestleMania week.
Some talent who worked for both AEW and NJPW in the past wondered if Ibushi’s involvement with AEW could strain All Elite Wrestling’s relationship with NJPW. Ibushi and NJPW have had issues in the past, but Ibushi has claimed that the issues were resolved.
