John Cena kicked off his retirement tour back in January, and it will come to an end this weekend when he faces Gunther in his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Bryan Alvarez recently shared an update on plans for Saturday Night’s Main Event on Wrestling Observer Live and he noted that John Cena vs. Gunther is currently set to open the show.

“Right now the Saturday Night’s Main Event show has no runtime. It has a start time, but it has no end time, so basically they can pretty much go however long they want. Because it’s not gonna be like when the show was on NBC. They can basically go as long as they need to go. Probably will end up going two and half hours.

At this moment the opening match is scheduled to be John Cena vs. Gunther, and John Cena is going to get as much time as he wants. The match is going to go as long as he wants because with John Cena he basically calls his matches in the ring, and when it’s over they’re going to do whatever they do afterwards, and it will probably take up the entire first hour of the Peacock show. They’ll do the other three matches, and when the show ends, the show ends.”

AJ Styles & Dragon Lee vs. Je’Von Evans & Leon Slater was added to Saturday Night’s Main Event earlier this week, and WWE recently confirmed that Styles & Dragon Lee will be putting their WWE World Tag Team Titles on the line.

Saturday Night’s Main Event will air live from Washington D.C. on December 13th and the current card can be seen below.
