We’re currently on the road to the first ever WWE WrestlePalooza premium live event, and it’s shaping up to be a big show. It was recently confirmed that John Cena will be facing Brock Lesnar at the event, and AJ Lee is expected to compete in her first match in over 10 years when she teams with CM Punk to face Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch.

Recently there’s been a lot of talk about a potential WWE Championship match as Cody Rhodes’ status for the show was said to be up in the air. However, Dave Meltzer recently shared an update on Wrestling Observer Radio and noted that Cody is set to defend his title against Drew McIntyre at WrestlePalooza.

“Cody Rhodes is scheduled now for Wrestlepalooza against Drew McIntyre for the championship. The Orton match was gonna take place first, but they didn’t know if they would do it on the pay-per-view. I know the Cody thing was up in the air, I presume it was because they didn’t know for a fact that he would be done filming (for Street Fighter) by the 20th.

“That’s what I was told in the middle of the week – if he’s back, he’ll be on the card, and if he’s not, it’s gonna be Orton and Drew. But yeah, it’s Cody and Drew.”

WrestlePalooza will air live from Indianapolis, IN on Saturday, September 20th. Stay tuned for updates.
