We are only a few days removed from the tragic final moments of NXT TakeOver: Chicago. At the end of the show, Tommaso Ciampa proved why people call him Psycho Killer when he turned on his tag team partner and terminated Team DIY. They were unsuccessful in reclaiming the NXT Tag Team Titles in a ladder match against The Authors Of Pain and Ciampa didn’t take the loss well. NXT taped their next set of television shows and Tommaso kicked off the tapings to address the crowd.
The NXT Universe chanted “why Ciampa why?” when Tommaso emerged in the Full Sail Arena. He started his promo out by inviting his former tag team partner Johnny Gargano to the ring. Then Ciampa rubbed it in everyone’s face that Johnny Wrestling wasn’t in the building.
It turns out Tommaso Ciampa really did suffer a legit injury at NXT’s Highland Heights show the Thursday before TakeOver: Chicago. But Tommaso gutted through his injury and carried through with the ladder match against The Authors Of Pain.
Ciampa was sour that after his injury at the Highland Heights show the internet was abuzz about what Team DIY would do. Some fans were tossing around ideas of who might replace Ciampa and apparently the Psycho Killer took offense to the fantasy booking.
When Ciampa knew he was really injured after the ladder match he decided to end #DIY. Much like how George shot Lenny in John Steinbeck’s ‘Of Mice And Men,’ Ciampa did what he thought was best and just kill the team.
Ciampa said that he is irreplaceable and so is Johnny Gargano. The only replaceable people are the fans of NXT. Ciampa really has gone full heel if he’s insulting the fans like that.
But Tommaso said he is injured and going away for a while. When he comes back to action he will prove himself to be the most dangerous threat on the NXT roster.
Only time will tell how long he will be out of action. PWInsider says Ciampa is headed to Birmingham, Alabama soon for diagnosis and treatment. This certainly adds to the story for the former members of #DIY.
