It’s been an interesting week for the Impact Wrestling roster, that’s for sure. Over the past few days the promotion has been taping several weeks worth of television to set up storylines for the coming months, and there were several title changes that took place at the tapings.
Austin Aries returned to the company and won the Impact Global Championship on his first night back, and Impact Grand Champion Matt Sydal recently became a double champion when he defeated Taiji Ishimori to win the X-Division Championship.
But unfortunately for Sydal, his time as a double champion was short-lived.
Sunday night during the Impact Wrestling tapings in Orlando, Austin Aries put the Impact Global Championship on the line, while Matt Sydal put the Grand Championship on the line in a Title vs. Title match.
In the end it was Austin Aries who won the match and ended up walking out with both belts.
What this means for the future of the Grand Championship is unknown, but some fans have speculated on social media that the company could be looking to unify the belt with the Impact Global Championship.
