SmackDown was a staple of Friday nights for a decade from 2005 to 2015 and a lot of memories were made during that time. But their move to Tuesday nights was out of necessity to do a live program because that’s when SmackDown was always taped.
SmackDown had rarely been live before SmackDown Live. Now that Fox acquired the rights to WWE’s Blue Brand many people wondered what was in store for SmackDown since they were moving back to Friday nights.
The Wrap confirms SmackDown will remain a live show when they move to Fridays which brings up a lot of other questions regarding what they will do with 205 Live and the usual SmackDown house show that takes place on Friday nights. If they switch the house shows to Tuesday nights that’s a big difference between the gate at a Friday show in any market so things could get interesting.
But at least we know that when we tune in to Fox and watch SmackDown Live on Friday nights in October next year the show will actually be live.
WWE always has new DVDs coming out and somebody’s buying them so they keep planning more. It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter a while back that WWE was planning a DVD set called “The Shield Rise and Fall” but it looks like WWE might have softened on their approach to telling this chapter of The Shield’s story.
Now the DVD set starring Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose is going to be called, “The Shield: Justice For All.”
This is a pretty interesting little note because we either saw a working title before or WWE sent a directive to change the title of the DVD set. If the latter is the case then the book might not be closed on Ambrose, Rollins, and Reigns’ reunion.
