Shinsuke Nakamura debuted on SmackDown immediately after WrestleMania 33. However, the powers that be have kept him from wrestling on television to build to his big in-ring debut at Backlash. Unless WWE officials are planning a major swerve, “The King of Strong Style” is expected to have a big night and get the win over Ziggler at Backlash. That’ll keep his momentum going, but the feud with Ziggler won’t continue. WWE officials are planning something else for him.
It’s being reported by CageSideSeats that Shinsuke Nakamura will likely find himself in the United States Title hunt following Backlash. Kevin Owens is set to defend the title against AJ Styles, which is a match that either man can win. However, the winner will likely be Owens.
Nakamura vs. Owens seems to be the plan for both men on SmackDown after Backlash. On paper, that’s a rivalry the WWE Universe would love to see on television, but does that mean “The King of Strong Style” will be the United States Champion sooner rather than later?
