Shinsuke Nakamura is one of the most charismatic professional wrestlers in the world, and to many he’s known as the King of Strong Style. Nakamura is a star in the world of professional wrestling, but he’s also competed in MMA bouts in the past and he has a record of 3-1.
Back in 2005, Shinsuke Nakamura caught UFC’s attention, and they made him an offer. However, Nakamura turned down the chance to fight in UFC because he was more focused on professional wrestling.
“Around 2005, UFC offered me a chance to fight for them. But, at that moment, I was under contract with NJPW and I decided to stay in pro-wrestling. It was a good opportunity, but I don’t regret my choice,” Nakamura told Hindustan Times.
Shinsuke Nakamura is currently one of the top stars on SmackDown Live, and he recently challenged Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam. Nakamura didn’t win the belt, but it’s rumored that he could be getting another shot in a few weeks.
Nakamura is now more focused than ever on his wrestling career, and he made it clear that he has no intention to compete in the MMA world.
“You have to understand that I am 37-year old now. It has been a long time since my last proper MMA training and although I still train in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, it will take me at least one year to be ready for a proper fight. That is not something I want to do as I am happy in WWE.”
