Shinsuke Nakamura defended his NXT Championship against Samoa Joe at NXT TakeOver: Toronto, and on that night Samoa Joe became the first ever two time NXT Champion after he defeated Shinsuke.

Unfortunately for Joe, he’s no longer the only two time NXT Champion in history, as a matter of fact, he’s no longer NXT Champion at all. At the NXT live event in Osaka, Japan, Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Joe to win the NXT Championship back.

This is the third time that the NXT Championship has changed hands in this rivalry, as Shinsuke Nakamura won the title for the first time when he defeated Samoa Joe at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II. Joe then won the title back in Toronto, and now that he has lost it only 14 days later he holds a new record for the shortest NXT Championship reign.
The next TakeOver special will air in January when the NXT brand will be heads to Texas for Royal Rumble weekend for NXT TakeOver: San Antonio.
