Shortly after the WWE brand split returned in the summer of 2016, WWE announced that former Intercontinental Champion Shelton Benjamin would be joining the SmackDown roster. Unfortunately for Benjamin his return was delayed because he had to undergo surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff. According to Shelton Benjamin recovery is going well, but he took to Twitter to let fans know that if they’re expecting him to return at the Royal Rumble, they will be disappointed.
Recovery is going well. Still months away from anything physical so all the RR predictions are as accurate as they've been the last 6 years https://t.co/eb6q2YbEsJ

Although Shelton Benjamin’s in ring return is still months away, he recently noted on Twitter that he is available for appearances in the meantime.
