This week’s episode of SmackDown Live featured a few big moments, as former NXT Champion Bobby Roode finally made his main roster debut, and former WWE Intercontinental Champion Shelton Benjamin made his return.

Benjamin returned during a backstage segment featuring General Manager Daniel Bryan and Chad Gable. Daniel Bryan told Chad Gable that he knows he’s going through a tough time because his American Alpha tag team partner Jason Jordan jumped to Raw, but Bryan said he didn’t give Jordan away for free.
Daniel Bryan said he made a deal with Raw General Manager Kurt Angle, and he agreed to send Jason Jordan to Raw if Kurt agreed to help him sign one of his friends. Daniel Bryan then suggested a new tag team partner for Chad Gable and he introduced former WWE Tag Team Champion Shelton Benjamin.
Chad Gable marked out for lack of a better term, and Daniel Bryan announced that the two stars will be teaming up for a tag team match on next week’s episode of SmackDown Live.
Shelton Benjamin was originally supposed to return last year when WWE announced he would be joining the SmackDown Live brand after the draft, but his return was put on hold after it was discovered he was injured and had to undergo surgery.
It was recently reported that Benjamin has signed a new contract with WWE, and it appears that he’ll be working with Chad Gable moving forward.
