The Attitude Era is one of the most beloved eras in all of professional wrestling, and at the time wrestling’s popularity reached a whole new level. The intriguing storylines are what most fans remember about The Attitude Era and it’s not always the in-ring action that fans focus on when they talk of days gone by.

Sheamus recently spoke to The Sun about today’s in-ring action and he believes that it has evolved into something that is far superior to the in-ring action of The Attitude Era.

“The level of athleticism has evolved so much since we watched as kids. The athletes that WWE has now are far superior to anything that we had the 1980s or the 1990s. You look back at the Attitude Era and the level of entertainment we put in the ring now. The Attitude Era doesn’t even come close. I’m not afraid to say that either. You watch some of the stuff Cesaro does in the ring; with his size, the way he moves around the ring, the moves he hits, the way he picks up guys twice his size. It’s just a different level.”

There’s absolutely no denying that wrestling has evolved quite a bit since The Attitude Era. Matches are faster now, and most wrestlers use more moves than their Attitude Era counterparts, so it does seem that today’s generation has pushed the limits of their own athleticism.

  1. I can agree, from an in ring, athletic perspective now far exceeds the Attitude Era. Thing for me is stories were better then than they are now. Part might be internet playing spoiler a bit, but stories then had more of an impact. Characters were more out there.

    • Exactly, the stories was better, and wrestlers had actual gimmicks. Now it’s “Tough guy A”, “Tough guy B”, C,D..
