Special referees are fun and you never know what can happen when someone new puts on the black and white shirt to call a match. It’s always interesting and adds a fresh dynamic to any given contest especially if the special referee is especially special.
It turns out The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels is going to dust off his sleeveless referee shirt and get back in the ring. Because he is going to officiate once more. It might not be an actual match, but it’s better than nothing.
NXT TakeOver: WarGames is set to be a historic night in WWE history anyway because the main event of the show is set to bring back the War Games match concept which has been absent from pro wrestling for seventeen years.
But the night before NXT TakeOver: WarGames is going to be a pretty big night as well when Drew McIntyre will defend his NXT Title against Adam Cole with Shawn Michaels as a special guest referee.
This announcement is a big one and hopefully that wrestling bug will bite HBK once again and there could always be the possibility of some more involvement in the WWE Universe for The Showstopper.
Adam Cole and NXT Champion Drew McIntyre are obviously excited about this news as well. Cole commented how it was a great way to meet HBK (like they haven’t run into each other at the Performance Center yet). But Cole still mentioned how he couldn’t have asked for a better story.
McIntyre also commented on this announcement by saying Cole should start praying for mercy because anything can happen in 2017.
This match will go down at the NXT house show in San Antonio, Texas on November 17. If you’re in the area this event would certainly worth catching because this very well might be a once in a lifetime experience.
