For decades the McMahons made regular appearances on WWE programming, but it’s not often that fans see a member of the family featured on WWE TV nowadays. Shane McMahon last appeared on a WWE show when he returned to face The Miz in an impromptu match at WrestleMania 39. However, things didn’t go as planned as Shane suffered an unfortunate injury shortly after the bell rang which led to Snoop Dogg replacing him.
Shane has been laying low for some time now, but the subject of him possibly joining AEW was recently discussed on Grilling JR. Jim Ross discussed the idea and said that it’s “so crazy that it might work” depending on how it was handled. Co-host Conrad Thompson later shared an update on the possibility of Shane joining the company and noted that he’s been told Shane reached out to AEW wrestlers to discuss the idea hypothetically.
“There was a friend of ours. He went out of his way to text me, ‘Hey, that’s not as crazy as you think. I know for sure that Shane McMahon has reached out to wrestlers on the AEW roster to at least hypothetically discuss the idea.’”
