Last week on Raw Dean Ambrose agreed to a WWE Championship match against Seth Rollins. It went down on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw and it was action packed from bell to bell.
Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose pulled out all the stops, and the finish came when Seth Rollins hit Dean Ambrose with a superplex from the top rope. After he hit the move Rollins pinned Ambrose but Rollins’ shoulders were also down as well as the referee counted the pin.
The end of the match was controversial without a doubt and after the bell rang Stephanie McMahon awarded Seth Rollins with the WWE Championship.
Rollins then made his way up the ramp and celebrated as Shane McMahon argued with Stephanie and SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan looked frustrated.
Monday Night Raw went off the air with Seth Rollins holding the title in the air at the top of ramp as Michael Cole asked if Seth Rollins is really the new WWE Champion.
It was later announced on the WWE Network that the referee had reviewed the tape and decided that Dean Ambrose is still the WWE Champion and that the match ended in a draw.
It’s been rumored that WWE will be using two World Titles when the brand split returns so this is likely their way of introducing another World Championship.
Dean Ambrose will be defending the WWE Championship in the triple threat match against Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns at Battleground on Sunday.
