Back in May of 2023, Seth Rollins won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and since then The Visionary has been a fighting champion. Last week Seth defended his title against Jinder Mahal on Monday Night Raw and he unfortunately suffered an injury on the process.
Over the last week there’s been a lot of speculation regarding Seth Rollins’ future as Fightful reported that Seth suffered a torn MCL and a partially torn meniscus. Ahead of Monday Night Raw this week it was announced that Seth would be kicking off the show with an announcement about his future.
Seth Rollins’ music hit as soon as Raw kicked off as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion made his way to the ring while wearing a brace on his left knee. Michael Cole questioned if Seth’s WrestleMania dream could be in jeopardy. Rollins took off his sunglasses as the fans chanted, “Thank you Seth!” The champion told the fans it’s been a long week, so he really appreciated the chants.
Rollins said he hit a moonsault during his match with Jinder Mahal and he felt his knee go into a position it wasn’t supposed to. He said after he went to the back it set in that he might be out for a long time. Seth said he was unable to bend his knee when he got backstage and he thought for the first time that it was a real possibility he might miss WrestleMania. The fans chanted, “No!”
According to Seth he got results back from a MRI back in the middle of the week and he has a grade 2 tear in his MCL and a torn meniscus. He said with surgery he’ll be out 3 to 4 months according to doctors. The Visionary said it’s not just up to him and he’s taking it day by day because he doesn’t know what the future holds.
Gunther’s music then hit and Imperium made their way down to the ring as Gunther carried the IC Title over his shoulder. The fans booed Gunther as he grabbed a mic. Gunther said that he thinks they’ve been avoiding each other, so he thought he would come out and let Seth know what he thinks of him.
Gunther told Rollins that he’s been labeled a workhorse champion from the beginning. The Ring General said Seth is a champion everyone can be proud of, just like him. He said it pulls at his heart strings to see that Seth might not make it to WrestleMania and that makes him sad.
Rollins said he doesn’t give a damn what the doctors tell him. He will take the title to WrestleMania. Seth Rollins said he will do everything he can to walk out of WrestleMania with the title. Gunther said that he’s going to win the Royal Rumble then choose Seth as his opponent for WrestleMania. He said he will target Seth’s knee, his back, and anything that is not 100% as he beats him to become WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
Seth Rollins told Gunther to remember who he’s coming after as Gunther told Rollins to remember who’s coming after you. They shook hands as The New Day appeared and attacked the other Imperium members on the outside of the ring.
