Seth Rollins recently appeared on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast and discussed a variety of topics, including his experiences traveling and working with veteran talent. You can read some highlights below:
“We were put in a position to succeed, for sure,” Rollins acknowledged. “But a lot of people are put into positions to succeed and it doesn’t always pan out. There comes a point when you gotta deliver… If you get the ball and you drop the ball or you’re not successful in your attempts, then they’re going to give the ball to somebody else. It was on us to perform every time we were out there. That was something we took pride in, especially having the background that I had—Ambrose, too, I think. We relished the opportunity to take on the big guys in WWE right off the get-go.” Rollins said that the three members of The Shield exuded confidence in the ring and on screen and that this extended into how they conducted themselves backstage.
“It certainly rubbed people the wrong way,” said Rollins when asked how The Shield’s rapid ascent affected their work environment. “It was one of those things where it makes people uncomfortable. It puts people on the spot and they don’t like that. I think that over time, when you do steal the show night in and night out—when you do things you said you were going to do—it earns people’s respect. They jump on the bandwagon, so to speak. Over time, the guys that were haters—the guys that didn’t appreciate our attitude kind of jumped on board and wanted to be a part of the movement.”
