Should Seth Rollins Jump Right Into The WWE Title Picture When He Returns?

Seth Rollins has been out of action for almost six months after suffering a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus at a WWE live event in Dublin Ireland back in November.

It was estimated that Rollins would make a return in 6-9 months which means that many fans are already speculating that the former Shield member will make an epic return imminently.

Much of the early speculation suggested that Rollins could be set to again win the Money in the Bank briefcase upon his return because it was reported that WWE were not ready to allow Rollins back into the main event picture so soon after suffering an injury.

Rumors then circulated that AJ Styles was set to turn on his Bullet Club team mates Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows and form a new version of The Shield with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins instead, although it would be rather far fetched to imagine Ambrose going against Reigns after all they have overcome. Reigns teaming up with Anderson and Gallows in his own new stable is another idea that sounds a little far fetched at the moment.

Current speculation suggests that Seth Rollins could be making his WWE return in an even more epic way, with the title he actually never lost. Rollins was forced to relinquish the WWE World Heavyweight Championship before Survivor Series last year following his injury and it is now thought that he could have his own version of the belt when he returns.

This would be WWE rehashing the John Cena/CM Punk story line from “The Summer of Punk” in 2011 when Punk left WWE following Money in the Bank before making his return with the belt that he left with, but WWE had already had a tournament for the title and saw Rey Mysterio crowned the winner.

Cena then challenged Mysterio for the title and following his win “Cult of Personality” hit for the first time and Punk came out wearing the Championship belt and proclaiming the fact that he was the rightful Champion.

This would be a fantastic way for Rollins to make his return as the cocky heel character that WWE want him to be and it would allow Reigns and Rollins to finally have the pay-per-view showdown that fans have been anticipating for the past few years.

Both men were set to collide on pay-per-view on two previous occasions but both Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns were injured in the build up to their matches, leading fans to the conclusion that the match between the former Shield teammates could be cursed.

Night of Champions 2014 was set to be the match where Reigns gained revenge on Seth Rollins for his role in the destruction of The Shield, but Reigns shockingly suffered an incarcerated hernia in the build up to the match and was hospitalized which meant that Dean Ambrose was then forced to return to WWE early after wrapping up filming “12 Rounds 3: Lockdown” and attack Rollins at the event instead.

The duo were then not set to meet each other in a one-on-one situation at a pay-per-view again until Survivor Series last year, but obviously this time it was Rollins who suffered the injury and WWE were forced to create a tournament for the vacated Championship, that Reigns then won before being defeated by Sheamus five minutes later.

WWE have pulled AJ Styles into the WWE Championship picture now and once again Styles and Reigns are set to clash in an Extreme Rules match at the pay-per-view of the same name. This looks like it could end in another brawl with Anderson, Gallows and The Usos once again involving themselves and allowing Reigns to pick up the win and then head forward into build up to Money in the Bank.

It is thought that Rollins will not be scheduled to return to the company until the build up to SummerSlam and if this theory is given the green light, then Reigns and Rollins will fight it out to prove who the rightful Champion is at The Biggest Party of the Summer.

This would be a great way for WWE to keep Reigns in the main event picture but take the heat off him slightly by placing it on Rollins, even though Rollins does gain a face reaction, it would make sense for these two to finally be given a stand out match, but as stated, this is just a theory, we still await word from WWE’s creative minds to see what they have planned for the return of The Architect.
