The women of the WWE have been breaking new ground and making history over the past few years, and now they’re set to make history once again with the first ever women’s Royal Rumble match in January.
An all women’s Royal Rumble match has been a long time coming, and there are quite a few legends from the past that fans are hoping to see compete in the Royal Rumble.
Sasha Banks is a former WWE Women’s Champion, but she’s also a fan herself, and she recently told NBC Sports that she would love to see Trish Stratus, Lita, Molly Holly and more appear in the match.
“I would love to hear Trish Stratus’ music. Of course Lita, Molly Holly, Jazz, Jacqueline, man even Victoria. It would be an honor to be in the ring with any of those girls. Beth Phoenix. Of course I want to win it, but at the same time, I would just want her to pick me up and throw me over the top. I would mark out, but I would land on my hands and go back into the ring like Kofi Kingston (laughs). Any of those girls would be incredible, but of course I would love to see girls from NXT get the opportunity, but of course they wouldn’t win it because I would be the last person standing.”
Trish Stratus has said in the past that she’ll always leave the door open for a return, and she recently teased on Twitter that she’s interested in competing in the match, but whether or not her tease will lead to an appearance is unknown.
One way or another it looks like the first ever women’s Royal Rumble is a match that fans won’t want to miss.
