Samoa Joe broke into the WWE main event scene over the summer when he challenged Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at Great Balls Of Fire, and later challenged him again in a fatal 4-way match at SummerSlam. However, Joe’s momentum was halted when he suffered a knee injury at a WWE live event.
Joe recently spoke to Sky Sports about his return, and he said that he’s close to returning and he expects to be part of WWE’s U.K. tour in November. The Samoan Submission Machine also noted that he underwent surgery on his nose during his time away from WWE.
“Back then I had no chance to take time off because of the WWE opportunity, before I was just treating the knee problem with ice and elevation at home. Now it’s the best I’ve ever felt, it really is. I also needed nasal surgery as I’ve broken my nose about eight times in my career so I was only breathing at around 60 per cent. You have no idea how invigorating it is now.”
Who Samoa Joe will be feuding with when he returns remains to be seen, but he made it clear that he’s not intimidated by WWE’s top guy Roman Reigns.
“Roman Reigns is very good, he’s at the peak of his career,” Joe said. “The fans have a bone to pick with him but that doesn’t concern me. He’s WWE’s guy, he’s beaten Cena but he’s never beaten me. Next time I’ll beat his ass.”
