WWE has released a significant number of Superstars so far in 2021, and a few weeks ago the releases hit the NXT brand pretty hard. Following the releases it was reported that WWE will be making changes to the NXT brand with the focus shifting to younger, bigger talents.
Samoa Joe happened to be one of the talents who got released following WrestleMania 37, but he has since returned to the company and is once again part of the NXT brand.
The former NXT Champion recently spoke to Sports Illustrated about the rumored changes coming to NXT, and he said that he hopes NXT will always change and evolve.
“I hope NXT is never the same as it used to be. I hope NXT is always changing and evolving and experimenting and trying new things. So much has been done in NXT, so many barriers have been crossed and so many new, amazing superstars have been introduced. It’s always been a place for experimentation, it’s always been a place for something new. I hope it continues to be that. I hope it’s never the same old NXT.”
Samoa Joe will challenge Karrion Kross for the NXT Championship at TakeOver 36 on Sunday, August 22. Stay tuned for updates.
