Sami Zayn has been out of action since June of 2018, and he had a long road to recovery after undergoing double rotator cuff surgery.
The former NXT Champion made his return on the Raw after Mania, and the fans in attendance made it clear that they were happy to see him.
Sami got on the mic and joked that his schedule is wide open, then he followed up by saying he would love to wrestle a match.
That’s when the new Intercontinental Champion Finn Balor made his way down to the ring.
Mike Rome announced that Zayn and Balor would be facing off in an Intercontinental Championship match and then the match kicked off.
After an intense back and forth match, Finn Balor put Sami away with the Coup de Grace.
After the match Sami Zayn got on the mic and said that he thought this night would cure what ails him, but all it did was reinforce what he thought for the last nine months. He said that it genuinely seems like the fans missed him. They cheered, and he said that honestly from the bottom of his heart, he didn’t miss any of this, or any of the fans.
He said WWE is a super toxic environment, but it’s not because of the McMahons, or the other Superstars, it’s because of the ugly fans.
Sami said the fans only get joy out of being critics, and they cheered.
Zayn called the fans “evil overlords” and said the right thing to do is hold each and every fan accountable every week.
He said, “see you in Hell” before dropping the mic and leaving.
