At WrestleMania 39, Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn made history when they defeated The Usos to become the new Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions in the main event of night 1. KO & Sami Zayn defended the belts against The Usos in the main event on SmackDown this week and things got interesting ahead of the match.
The Usos cut a promo earlier in the show saying that Roman Reigns hadn’t been in contact with them in recent weeks following their loss at WrestleMania. KO & Sami Zayn made their way out and The Usos tried to convince Sami Zayn that KO was going to turn on him.
Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman and Solo Sikoa were drafted to SmackDown without The Usos. Backstage The Usos talked about how they were going to win the titles back, and Paul Heyman said “tonight’s the night” as he looked at Solo Sikoa who was taping up his thumb.
The match kicked off and as it got close to the end cameras showed Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman watching backstage. Heyman received a call which he answered and said “yes sir” before hanging up. After hanging up the call Heyman told Solo that tonight is his night.
Solo Sikoa then started walking toward the ring, but Riddle ambushed him out of nowhere and they fought into the backstage area. The end of the match came when Kevin Owens hit Jimmy Uso with the Stunner then tagged in Sami Zayn who hit Jimmy with the Helluva Kick for the win.
After the match ended Solo Sikoa looked on from the crowd as The Usos looked concerned at ringside.
