Ryback parted ways with WWE earlier this year and since then he’s been busy booking dates on the independent scene, and he’s also launched a podcast.
On the most recent episode of his podcast Ryback noted that he is attempting to change his legal name to Ryback so that he can have ownership of it. According to the former WWE Intercontinental Champion, he was set to go before a judge on September 1st.
“I legally went and I changed my name to Ryback, for many reasons. One of which, it was one thing that I did not own, that I created and I used before my time with WWE, and it is something that is associated with my brand and who I am, that I am very proud of. I went through the proper steps in Clark County in Las Vegas, and it cost a little bit of money. I go in front of the judge September 1st, when this airs hopefully everything is approved and I will be known as Ryback Allen Reeves.”
As of this writing Ryback hasn’t posted any sort of update regarding the possible name change. On his Twitter page he’s still listed as The Big Guy and on Instagram he’s still listed as Ryan Reeves.
UPDATE: Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that according to court officials in the state of Nevada, a judge has not signed off on the name change at this point in time.
