CM Punk won the AEW World Championship at Double or Nothing last Sunday, and he kicked off Dynamite this week with a trios match. It seemed that CM Punk was on a roll, but the AEW Champion appeared on Rampage last night and announced that he will be taking time off due to injury. Following Punk’s big announcement former WWE star Ryback followed up with a simple tweet which said, “Karma Rules 😉.”

It’s no big secret that CM Punk and Ryback have had their issues. After parting ways with WWE, CM Punk appeared on Colt Cabana’s podcast and bashed Ryback while saying that working with the former Intercontinental Champion took years off of his career.
On Friday night it was also confirmed that in Punk’s absence an interim AEW World Champion will be crowned. A battle royal will take place on Dynamite next week and the winner of the battle royal will go on to face Jon Moxley in the main event. The winner of the main event will then go on to compete in an AEW World Championship match at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view.
Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
