Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are leading a campaign against Shane McMahon’s tyranny and calling for the end of Shane-O’s reign as SmackDown Live Commissioner.
Anybody who knows anything about an effective campaign is you need a good slogan. Every major political player needs to put a message all wrapped up in a nice little package for easy consumption. Therefore the Yep Movement seems to do the trick.
This is where the “Yep Movement” comes into play. Borrowing from Daniel Bryan’s iconic Yes Movement, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn brilliantly plastered a “p” over the “s” in “Yes” on a couple classic Daniel Bryan t-shirts to rally the troops against Shane McMahon. On that note, you can now get your own Yep Movement t-shirts on WWE’s shop.
It just so happens that the idea of using Yep as a pro wrestler’s calling card isn’t a new thing. But then again, it’s rather hard to come up with a totally original idea nowadays.
Before Ryback was The Big Guy we all know and love today he portrayed Skip Sheffield who was a big guy, but he also wore a cowboy hat and had a very familiar phrase akin to that of Kevin and Sami’s new mantra.
The Big Guy recently commented on Instagram about the new Yep Movement while saying, “there’s no denying Skip Sheffield left an everlasting impression on a couple performers. #AheadOfHisTime #ThankYouSkippy.”
It was obviously a tongue in cheek comment, but you have to wonder how much Ryback is serious about the idea that Sheffield was ahead of his time. After all, he didn’t get too much of a shot on the main roster. We can only imagine how different things would have been if “Yep, Yep, Yep” was chanted at WWE live shows instead of “Feed Me More” during his run with WWE.
