On Sunday, Daniel Bryan is set to team up with Kane to challenge The Bludgeon Brothers for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles at Extreme Rules, and the event could potentially be one of the last WWE pay-per-views Bryan works, as his contract is set to expire on September 1st.
CageSideSeats notes that plans for Sunday’s title match call for WWE to either set up Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz for SummerSlam, or Daniel Bryan vs. Kane for SummerSlam.
It’s being said that the direction WWE chooses to go with Bryan’s SummerSlam match will be an indication of how the company feels contract negotiations are going.
The former WWE Champion recently said publicly that if he continues to work with WWE he would like to work a lighter schedule.
At this point it’s not known what Bryan is going to do, but it’s worth noting that he is currently being advertised for WWE events after September 1st.
