Rusev made his return to WWE pay-per-view at Battleground in July, and he lost a Flag Match to John Cena. Things didn’t get much better for Rusev when he faced off against Randy Orton at SummerSlam, because Orton managed to defeat The Bulgarian Brute in a matter of seconds with a perfectly timed RKO.

Rusev’s wrestling career has seen better days, that’s for sure, but the former United States Champion is determined to climb to the top of the industry, and he recently said on SmackDown Live that he’s going to break a legend.
It looks like that legend could very well be Randy Orton, as the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Randy Orton vs. Rusev was in the plans for Hell in a Cell at one point.
The Hell in a Cell pay-per-view is still several weeks away, so there’s plenty of time for WWE to put this match together, which shouldn’t be very hard given that Rusev was recently complaining about how people in Bulgaria are ashamed of him for losing to Randy at SummerSlam.
SmackDown could always use more top heels, and if WWE does move forward with Rusev vs. Orton at Hell in a Cell, a victory over The Viper could help The Bulgarian Brute build up his reputation as a credible threat to the roster.
