Roman Reigns first won the Universal Championship at the Payback premium live event on August 30, 2020 and he’s been champion ever since. Soon The Tribal Chief will make history when he passes 1,000 days as champion, but it doesn’t sound like there’s any end in sight for Roman’s big title reign.
Jim Valley recently speculated that WWE could be setting Roman Reigns up to pass Hulk Hogan’s 1,474 day reign as champion, and Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men podcast responded when he explained that he’s heard numerous times that WWE is looking to update its history books with longer title reigns.
“I will be touching on this today on WOL. I have been told numerous times that WWE wants to update its history books and needs longer title reigns. Pun intended.”
Many have stepped up to challenge The Tribal Chief over the last few years and Cody Rhodes recently challenged Reigns for the gold at WrestleMania 39, but he failed to win the championship.
Last week Triple H revealed the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and after Roman Reigns was drafted to SmackDown on Friday night The Game declared that the new belt will be exclusive to Monday Night Raw.
At this point it seems to be a sure thing that Roman Reigns will pass 1,000 days as champion and it seems that WWE is considering having him hold the title much longer than that.
