Edge returned to the ring earlier this year during the 30 man Royal Rumble match, and he punched his ticket to WrestleMania when he went on to win it all. The Rated R Superstar declared that he would challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Title on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
Eventually Daniel Bryan was added to the match to make it a triple threat, and Reigns pinned both Edge and Bryan in a decisive fashion. Edge has yet to return to WWE programming since the Show of Shows, but he’s being advertised for the July 16th episode of SmackDown in Houston.
WWE recently confirmed that the SummerSlam pay-per-view will take place on August 21st, and Jon Alba is reporting that Edge is penciled in for the SummerSlam card.
Current plans call for Edge to work as a babyface at the event.
When Edge first returned earlier this year he was working as a babyface, but after Daniel Bryan was added to his feud with Roman Reigns the decision was made to turn Edge heel.
