Rumor Has It That ROH Owners Sinclair Broadcasting Are Interested In Purchasing TNA

There are a lot of crazy rumors surrounding TNA at the moment, but the one thing that stays consistent with all the rumors, reports and gossip is that TNA is looking to make a deal in the near future. Over the past few weeks it’s been reported by several different outlets that TNA is talking with various organizations about possibly selling their company. Now the name Sinclair Broadcasting is being thrown into the mix which is pretty significant because Sinclair Broadcasting owns ROH.

It was recently noted by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Sinclair Broadcasting is rumored to be interested in acquiring TNA wrestling. Sinclair is said to be interested in TNA’s extensive tape library and their already established international TV deals. PWTorch is also reporting that Sinclair has interest in the company and they’re said to be a key player in the TNA purchase negotiations.

One of the recurring plot threads that keeps popping up in the TNA sale rumors is Dixie Carter’s hesitation to give up control. Aroluxe Marketing is another company TNA is reportedly negotiating with and they apparently want majority ownership of the company which Dixie Carter does not want to give up. Given TNA’s track record with Dixie at the helm over the past few years, it seems likely that any company with interest in purchasing TNA would be pushing for majority ownership.

It’s also rumored that Sinclair Broadcasting has plans to rebrand the Tennis Channel as the American Sports Network which would mean that the network would be upping the ante with the sports related content. That could potentially be one of the reasons why Sinclair is interested in TNA’s tape library and it could mean good things for ROH as well such as an extra hour being added to their show.

Ring of Honor’s Joe Koff recently said that he’s open to the idea of running a two hour show citing that it would benefit the company a great deal and could help them grow internationally. The Tennis Channel currently has clearance in 40-50 million homes.
