With each day that passes we’re getting closer and closer to the return of the WWE brand split but there are still a lot of questions that need to be answered. One of the things people are asking about is the status of WWE pay-per-views going forward. Will Raw and SmackDown have their own pay-per-views? According to a fan who claims he recently spoke to Jerry Lawler, the answer is yes.
ProWrestling.net reader Jeff Wyatt recently attended the Jeff Wyatt attended the 38th Annual Superman Celebration in Metropolis, Illinois and he wrote into the site with a fan report after speaking the Jerry “The King” Lawler. According to the report Jerry Lawler told Jeff and his friend that WWE will be holding two pay-per-view events monthly, one for Raw and one for SmackDown. The big 4 (WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Survivor Series, Royal Rumble) will still be co-branded pay-per-views.
It’s worth noting that Jerry Lawler told Jeff last year that SmackDown would be going live last year and that turned out to be true because SmackDown is going live in a few weeks. As for whether or not this will actually end up happening, we’ll know soon enough because the brand split is only a few weeks away.
What do you guys think, are you excited about the idea of two pay-per-view events per month, or do you think it would just be too much? Sound off in the comments below.
