The stars of WWE recently made their way to Saudi Arabia for the Crown Jewel pay-per-view on Thursday, but there were quite a few Superstars who were unable to make it back to the United States for SmackDown on Friday.
Following the pay-per-view, WWE issued a statement noting that 175 Superstars, production crew members and employees were stranded in Saudi Arabia due to “aircraft problems.”
However, former WWE announcer Hugo Savinovich posted a video on Facebook noting that he has connections to people in countries like Saudi Arabia, and he claimed that there is more to the story.
Savinovich claimed that WWE is owed millions of dollars for two of the Saudi Arabia shows, and went on to say that the amount could be as much as $300 to $500 million dollars.
According to Savinovich, Vince McMahon retaliated by cutting off the live TV feed for Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. The Crown Prince was said to be so upset that he ordered the WWE talents to be taken off the plane before the flight could take off.
Hugo Savinovich also claimed that this is not a hearsay rumor and that he he got this information from someone with direct knowledge of the situation.
Vince McMahon left before the flight issues became a problem, and Dave Meltzer noted on Twitter that, “a lot of the talent lost a great deal of respect for him.”
