After months of speculation Mercedes Mone finally made her big debut with All Elite Wrestling at Big Business on Wednesday night. Recently there’s been a lot of talk about how much Mercedes Mone is being paid and it seems that AEW offering her a significant amount of money.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that it’s not clear what Tony Khan’s offer to Mercedes was, but it’s said to be very substantial and higher than WWE. However, it’s also being reported that it’s lower than the $5 million per year number that’s been making the rounds.
One WWE woman star noted that they heard Mercedes was being paid enough to make her the highest paid woman in professional wrestling. They added that they were thrilled with AEW for making the offer, and with Mercedes for accepting it because it will create a better market for the top women’s wrestlers in the long run.
The star added that they, “think it sets a standard that woman should be paid, too. The women do great numbers and have huge social followings” and it’s a “huge deal for women in the industry who are paid a lot less than men.”
