It’s been an interesting year for All Elite Wrestling as there have been several exciting title changes. Swerve Strickland managed to capture the AEW World Championship earlier this year which he dropped to Bryan Danielson at AEW All In back in August.
Over the weekend Bryan Danielson dropped the title to Jon Moxley at WrestleDream. Following the show there was apparently a rumor making the rounds claiming that Jon Moxley threatened to quit AEW earlier this year and messed up creative plans for Swerve and Danielson.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select is reporting that he’s never heard anything even remotely approaching rumors of Moxley threatening to quit. It was noted that plans for Bryan Danielson to beat Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship were pretty much decided on by the time Swerve won the title.
Part of the reason why Will Ospreay was eager to put Swerve Strickland over earlier this summer is because Ospreay knew he wouldn’t be competing in a match with Swerve at All In like many fans expected.
Jon Moxley’s absence from All Elite Wrestling earlier this summer was planned, and the company knew when he would be making his return to television.
