Later this month the AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view is set to air, and the card has been coming together over the last few weeks. Recently there’s been speculation that WWE Hall of Famer Sting could be appearing at the event, but apparently that’s not the case.
Cody Rhodes is set to face Lance Archer in the finals of the TNT Championship tournament and it’s been rumored that Sting would be presenting the title to the winner of the match. However, PWInsider is reporting that there’s no truth to the rumor.
It was recently reported that Sting is no longer under contract with WWE, but that doesn’t mean the two sides won’t come to terms on a merchandising deal.
Talk about Sting’s status with WWE picked up over the last few days after Mattel issued a statement confirming that The Icon had been pulled from a new series of action figures.
Cody Rhodes commented on a tweet featuring Mattel’s statement which kicked off talk of him possibly working with AEW.
