John Cena’s storied career is set to come to an end this weekend as he’ll be facing off against Gunther in one final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Anticipation is at an all time high heading into the event and it was recently reported that WWE has some surprises planned for the show.

Bryan Alvarez also got the wrestling world talking when he reported that there’s no set runtime for Saturday Night’s Main Event, and he also claimed that John Cena vs. Gunther was planned to open the show.

However, that report has been disputed by Andrew Baydala who took to social media to report that as of today John Cena’s final match is not scheduled to open Saturday Night’s Main Event.

“Iv seen the “reports” and I understand they are given what they are given but…

I can tell you that as of today, and things change rapidly. John Cena’s last match will NOT open #SNME.”

WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select is also reporting that the majority of people within WWE want John Cena to close the show, but both ideas have been floated. It’s being said that there are numerous people with power who want Cena to close the show. According to the report the details regarding the placement aren’t firm, but Cena opening the show is said to be something that is “on the table.”

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event will air live from Washington D.C. on December 13th and the current card can be seen below.
