They say that anything can happen in WWE and last year fans saw “Stone Cold” Steve Austin return to the ring at WrestleMania 38 when he defeated Kevin Owens in the main event at night 1.

Recently a rumor has been making the rounds on social media claiming that Austin is set to return to the ring once again this year for a match with LA Knight. The people spreading the rumor claimed that it was reported by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, but Meltzer recently took to Twitter to clarify that he never reported anything about an Austin vs. Knight match, and that the story is totally made up.

It’s certainly no big secret that WWE wanted Steve Austin for WrestleMania this year as it’s been reported that matches with Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns were pitched to The Texas Rattlesnake, but ultimately it didn’t happen. It’s also been reported that Triple H is hoping to book The Rock and Steve Austin for WrestleMania 40 in 2024. However, only time will tell if that ends up happening.

Stay tuned for more updates on WrestleMania 39 as they become available.
