Randy Orton is set to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42, and ever since he signed the contract for the match Orton has become a much more vicious version of himself.
In recent weeks Randy Orton has been shown talking to a mystery person on the phone who has been seemingly advising him. When the phone call angle first debuted on WWE programming Orton reminded everyone that wrestling has more than one royal family.
There’s been a lot of speculation regarding the mystery person’s identity, and Vince McMahon’s name has been making the rounds on social media. Vince McMahon was referenced during the segment involving Cody Rhodes and Stephanie McMahon on Raw this week, but Bryan Alvarez confirmed on Wrestling Observer Live that Vince McMahon is not part of the Randy Orton storyline.
“I do know that they had an idea for somebody who was on the phone. It was not Vince McMahon. It was not Chris Jericho. The deal for this person fell through, and if it had not fallen through, I think everybody would’ve been like ‘What? Who?’ It was a really bizarre first choice that they had, and if it comes out I’ll talk about it, but I was told not to say anything.”
Luckily fans won’t have to wait much longer to find out who Randy Orton has been talking to as Orton has confirmed that the mystery person will be at SmackDown in St. Louis this week.
