Becky Lynch finished up with WWE a few months ago and she’s currently a free agent. It’s not clear when wrestling fans might see Becky Lynch again in the future, but recently there’s been some talk about her contract status.
Recently Jonathan Coachman claimed on Backstage Pass that Becky Lynch asked for over two million dollars a year, and WWE didn’t agree to pay her that amount. Coachman said, “So reportedly, she was asking for over two million a year. […] They didn’t do it..[…] If they paid her, she’d be on the show.”
Fightful Select reports that they reached out to a dozen sources who immediately shot the rumor down. It’s being said that WWE and Becky Lynch are on good terms, and the company respected her decision to take time off. People in WWE noted that if Becky Lynch had wanted to sign a new deal before her absence the company likely would have done that.
The $2 million dollar number was outright denied by everyone in the know. Becky Lynch didn’t ask for that amount, but it’s being reported that WWE would have jumped at that number if she did. According to the report the general pay scale for top talent in WWE and AEW is well beyond that amount, and Lynch’s contract would have been worth well beyond $2 million a year if she had signed a new deal.
Both sides intimated that they expect to work together again at some point in the future if the situation calls for it.
