Last week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown featured a huge main event as Cody Rhodes faced off against Aleister Black in a non-title match. Unfortunately there was no clear winner as Drew McIntyre interfered when he attacked the referee then attacked The American Nightmare.
After Drew McIntyre interfered in the main event Nick Aldis made his way out into the arena and announced that Drew is officially suspended. Following SmackDown it was reported that McIntyre was written off TV so he can film a movie, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.
PWInsider is now reporting that there’s no truth to rumors that Drew was suspended so he can film a movie. Creative sources have reportedly said that the suspension was simply the next part of Drew’s storyline, and there’s nothing beyond that.
Drew hasn’t had the best luck over the last few months as he challenged Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestlePalooza and at the most recent Saturday Night’s Main Event, but failed to win the title both times.
Last week on SmackDown, Cody Rhodes indicated that he’s done with Drew McIntyre. However, it doesn’t seem that Drew is done with The American Nightmare, so it will be interesting to see where things go from here for McIntyre.
