Survivor Series has come and gone, and the stars of SmackDown Live are looking ahead to Clash of Champions in December, but the stars of Raw won’t have their chance to compete on pay-per-view until the Royal Rumble in January.
The Royal Rumble is always one of the most anticipated events of the year as it officially kicks off the road to WrestleMania.
At this point it’s not quite clear how the WrestleMania card is going to stack up, but at this point it seems that WWE officials are dead set on having Roman Reigns challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at the event.
Roman Reigns has won the Rumble in the past in order to earn a title shot at WrestleMania, but it doesn’t look like he’ll be doing that in 2018.
CageSideSeats notes that it’s rumored Roman Reigns won’t be winning the Rumble next year, and it’s likely that a SmackDown Live star will win the match and earn a title shot.
At this point in his career Roman Reigns definitely doesn’t need to win the Royal Rumble, but a Royal Rumble victory could go a long way for a SmackDown Live star depending on who ends up winning.
Who do you want to see win the 2018 Royal Rumble? Sound off in the comments below.
If it’s gonna be a SD star, I think it should be Dolph Ziggler. It’d give him something to do and a Ziggler/Styles match at WM would be fantastic.
Shinsuke Nakamura or Bobby Roode.
