Ruby Riot Explains The Origin Of Her Name

Ruby Riot is one of the up and coming stars in the NXT women’s division, and she’s been turning heads ever since she joined WWE’s developmental brand.

Ruby has a unique look, and when she makes her way to the ring fans immediately take notice. During a recent interview with the Miami Herald, the NXT star was asked if she thinks her unique look was a factor in WWE signing here, and she believes it was.

“I would like to think so,” she said. “There isn’t another female superstar on the roster who looks anything like me, that moves like me, and I think that definitely helps me in the long run. I would like to think that will help me with the NXT Universe as well, because of something new and fresh and exciting and not in the mold of the norm of what they’ve seen prior to this.”

Prior to joining NXT, Ruby Riot was wrestling as Heidi Lovelace but when she joined the brand she switched things up. She also explained the origin of her name saying that it was inspired by her punk rock background and the name Ruby came from a Rancid song.

“The name Ruby Riot was very much inspired by my punk rock background,” she said. “There is a song by Rancid that is inspired by a Ruby name. Riot, obviously, when you think of punk rockers, mosh pits, riots, everything like that.”
