Ronda Rousey has had a huge year so far, and she’s certainly changed the landscape for the women’s division since making her in-ring debut at WrestleMania 34 back in April.
Rousey has been a member of the Raw brand ever since she joined the company, and she’s the current Raw Women’s Champion, but it’s being reported that she could be making the move to SmackDown in 2019.
According to Wrestling Inc, FOX officials want Ronda Rousey to join SmackDown Live when the brand moves to FOX next year. Network officials reportedly feel that her popularity and MMA background will be a selling point for the show.
It was recently reported that FOX wants SmackDown to be more of a sports show, and less of a comedy show, and the idea is that Ronda Rousey would be a major player when it comes to cross promoting WWE and the network’s other programs.
Raw is often looked at as the superior brand, and WWE didn’t do anything to change that perception when they booked Raw to destroy SmackDown at Survivor Series.
But the FOX deal is a big money deal, so it will be interesting to see how SmackDown is treated after the show moves to its new home, and how many of Raw’s top stars end up on the blue brand.
