It’s been a while since fans have seen Ronda Rousey wrestle a match inside a WWE ring, but her run with the company from WrestleMania 34 to WrestleMania 35 saw her win the Raw Women’s Championship, which she defended against several opponents.
Rousey was booked to defend her title against Ruby Riott at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, but she recently explained during a Facebook Gaming stream that the match was changed to a squash due to time constraints.
The former Raw Women’s Champion then went on to explain that she was supposed to face Alexa Bliss the next night on Raw, but she asked Vince McMahon if she could face Ruby Riott in a rematch instead because they had been working on their match all week.
“I was like, ‘Alexa, I love you, you know I love having matches with you, but me and Ruby have been putting this match together all week and we couldn’t do it at the pay-per-view because it had to be a squash, and would you mind if I went and requested that me and Ruby have a second match instead?’”
Ronda Rousey last wrestled in the main event at WrestleMania 35 when she dropped the Raw Women’s Championship to Becky Lynch in a triple threat match.
She was recently spotted at WWE HQ, but it’s not clear when she will be returning.
Ronda yesterday says her match with Ruby at the chamber wasn't planned to be a squash match but it was changed last minute. Then she requested to Vince the next night that Ruby and her have a rematch on RAW so they can do the match they worked on. Amazing story. pic.twitter.com/qJ9QFJ0LnE
